my laptop sound work with hdmi but not supporting its own speakers it shows mute sign??? need help in this matter

Does clicking ont he speaker down by the time and then clicking on it again above the word mixer 'unmute' it?

Is HDMI set as the active audio device? That would account for the TV sound working and the laptop speakers not.
