My laptop won't turn on but the lights flash

Hi,
When I push the computer's ON button all the lights turn on like it was booting. Then, after few seconds everything turn off. Few seconds later the lights turn on again like it would continue booting. But it doesn't necessary boots. Sometimes it does boots and works properly, but gives the message plug in, not charging. Other times it does not boot at all. It does it randomly for days. I change the charger, I change the battery, try to turn it ON with just the battery or just the cord, I try to taking the battery out and taking out the cord and press the On button for 20 seconds and then but both the battery and cord to turn it on but non of this worked.
My computer is an ASUS X53E

This is almost certainly a mother board issue. Try different RAM first though to rule that out, or at least one stick at a time if you have more than one stick. You may want to try booting without a hard drive to see if it even gets to the BIOS screen properly. In rare cases a bad drive can cause a startup issue.
