My memory card says it's unlocked but it keeps comoing up as locked...does that mean it won't work in this camera? I have a so

I had a nikon coolpix & I got a sony cyber shot...I took the memory disc out of the nikon & put it in the sony & I can see the pictures off the disk but it keeps saying on my screen memory card locked....does that mean the nikon memory card won't work in the sony? it's a generic stick

It could be the card needs to be formatted in the Sony camera. Nikon and Sony cameras probably do not use same system for formatting cards.
