my motherboard burned on my HP pavillion laptop. I pulled the HD and placed in a USB dock but can't find my files.

my motherboard burned on my HP pavillion laptop. I pulled the HD and placed in a USB dock but can't find my files. I can find users then found my user name. It told me I didn't have permission or something I clicked continue.. When i clicked on my user name there was nothing there. How do I find my documents?

Try taking ownership of the directory and make sure you click "apply to subfolders".

Right-click on the folder go to Properties and the Security tab.
