My new PC can't install some software

Hi Tomshardware!

My new PC have been working (almost) flawlessly, until now, as it has begun getting some trouble doing certain things. The one thing i would like an answer to in this thread, is that my PC wont install specific software. It is not all kinds of software. Skype, Steam etc. will install just fine, but some other kinds of software. There's no specific type that it will take as a failure.

When the fault happens, it seems like the installer just keeps loading, without ever coming further than that.

I want to mention that i have been in the regedit to make some changes. i am not sure whether or not that might have caused any trouble.

Does anyone have any suggestions? :)

+1 on telling us the software that has failed.

Also why were you in regedit? Changing the wrong thing in there can cause some serious damage and is not recommended.

Step 1 of using regedit - Before you make any changes, do an export of the current Registry.

1. What are you trying to do?
2. What errors is it giving you
3. What did you change in the registry?

You raise serious questions when you mention regedit. I've been using PCs since 1989, and can count the times I've used regedit on my fingers. I've NEVER used it with Windows 8 or 10, and I've been running 10 since 10/1/2014.
