Solved! My old dell inspiron 1100

So I have an old dell inspiron 1100 I picked up from a boot sale for £5, its has a very slow single core celeron, 845gl intel graphics and 700mb or ram (I upgraded it from 256mb) and 40gb of hdd,
other than that windows xp is slow, web browsing and very simple videos is hard for this laptop, the only thing its good at is word processing, I tried to install a lightweight linux but there were some graphics issues, So what I am asking you Is what I should do with it. is there another type or linux or should I re-purpose it for something else?

See what it's like with 2GB or 3GB RAM - - If no improvement (but there should be) - - bin it.
