My Realtek Audio output volume button will not go to maximum

The control slide button for volume on my Acer Realtek HD audio will not go to maximum or minimum. When you slide it to maximim, it just bounces back to medium. It does the same if you slide the control to minimum, it bounces back to the middle?

Did you look in "Sound and Audio Devices" to see if it is set to stay at the medium level?

Yes, I looked in "Sound and Audio Devices. When I try to increase it to 100% it pops back to 75% and I hear the sound "bonk" as if I am doing something not allowed.
