My Sony Bravia KDL-46VL150 sound to external system does not function.

My Sony Bravia KDL-46VL150 sound to external sound does not function. TV speakers work fine and it used to be connected to the external system OK and stopped working just like that. Is it possible that I pushed a wrong button or that the TV has a malfunction? Any advice, it is out of warranty and I cannot imagine bringing it for repair as cost effective.

On some Sony TVs the external audio output only works when the internal speakers are turned off. Check the Audio set up menu.
