My Tivo Hung

I have a 2 year old Tivo Series 2 that appears to have hung last night. It
was working fine when I went to bed, but when I turned the TV on in the
morning, the display read "Almost there. Just a few minutes more..." This
is a yellow and black Tivo screen verses the gray text screen. I unplugged
it and plugged back in. It gave me the power up screen and then returned to
the same "Almost there" screen were it sat for hours.

Prior to this, I only had a few show response problems over the past year.
In the past few months it would occasionally freeze on a live show. A power
down/up always corrected the freeze.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Does anyone have recommendations on how to correct?

Any unusual noises coming from the unit, hard drive clicking noises? Could
be a failing hard drive.

Most likely your Hard Drive has a problem/died.

Check at http://www.weaknees.com for
Troubleshooting and/or repair/replacement parts.

Too bad you own the box instead of renting it like Cable co DVR's

You should check out your cable co's DVR it's more advanced technology
than Tivo's and they give it to you for free.

Wow... one instance where it might be financially beneficial to rent the
box instead of owning it...

but, wait! The OP can replace the hard drive with a bigger one, and have a
fully functional TiVo again. You can't even open your Cable Co's DVR
(unless you want to pay for it, and I'm sure it's more than $100 like a
TiVo).

The new HD would pay for itself in a few months of not paying the Cable
Co's rental fees.

Stop your lies. You pay for the box, and you pay for the service, even if
both are bundled together on your bill. Post a scan of your bill if you
would be so brazen as to claim anything else.

A new hard drive is not an upgrade to obsolete technology. He's just
pouring more money down the Tivo old technology rathole.

Sorry. Apparently I'm not "so brazen". Posting details of my bill is
too frightening for me.
