I'm surprised no celebrities have thought about converting this to a pimping pad.

Can't wait to see the valet's face when I pull up in a pimped out Atlantis

However, for those you who had their hearts set on the Discovery, that sale will never happen: its hand was promised to the Smithsonian Institute's National Air and Space Museum, although we're not exactly sure where that big boy will be parked.

Actually, the answer is quite easy,The Steven F Udvar-Hazy Hanger.

This really makes me a little sad, and I'm not even from USA.
NASA also announced to plunge the space station already in 2016 and the logic of both decisions is beyond me. No replacements for the shuttle the next 4-5 years and NASA is now depending on the russkis mercy and we all know their mood-swings and widespread corruption.
All this has happen after obama appointed a new director. I guess epic fail and "no, we can't" will be his aftermath.

and btw, am i allowed to launch it as long as i own it?
oh! and also where can i can my license?

I hope those shuttles get to stay in the states. I will be sad to see these shuttles end up in some foreign richman's backyard.

I have a feeling this one will go to Bin Laden. He has the money and I'm pretty sure he'd like to extend his horizons...

hmmm... I guess that "Will it blend?" (http://www.blendtec.com/willitblend/videos.aspx?type=unsafe) will finally meet its challenge!!!! lol

By the way, most likely we will not be able to play Crysis on its onboard computers (in case if you want to ask...)

lol

I was reading a while ago about this and I read that it cost 22 mill to sterilize the thing before purchase...

I wonder if Paramount Pictures, a subsidiary of Viacom I believe, will put up a bid for the Enterprise? Considering they own the Star Trek franchise.

Sweet! Now all I need is to get it to those guys at pimp my ride for the fluffy dice, 26" dubs, jackhammers, plasma screens, neon lights, carbon fiber cockpit, alcantara liner, ultra-leather treatment and iridescent paint job!

But I guess a pimped out shuttle isn't a pimped out shuttle without the built-in BBQ, wet bar, and coke machine :)

Unlikely, they sold off everything ST they had at an auction last year or so.

Blame Obama? You have got to be kidding! A plan to replace the shuttles should have been implemented at least 5 years ago for them to be ready this year.

[citation][nom]mr_tuel[/nom]How will it be transported?[/citation]

NASA has a 747 modified just for this purpose. And speaking seriously, they should put the shuttle in the site of the WTC in New York instead of doing strange architectonic ornaments.

And then how much to transport the shuttle from Florida to your...home? Typical costs by air is about $250,000.

i am sure that the Russians will like to purchase it, lol, then they can race us to planets beyond mars, lol
