On Verizon's web site, it states:
National IN Calling
If Caller ID is not present or Caller ID Block is initiated, National IN
Calling does not apply to incoming calls and will apply to outgoing calls
only.
I just called them to get clarification on that requirement and was told
that it has changed. The CS rep said that all calls from one Verizon phone
to another Verizon phone are now IN and do not require unblocking Caller ID,
provided you are within the IN network calling area (see below)
When your indicator is off or the banner displays "Verizon Wireless": home
airtime rates and National IN Calling apply.
When the digital indicator is also on, digital features and services are
available.
When the indicator is off and the banner displays "Extended Network": home
airtime rates and National IN Calling applies. Other features and services
may not be available.
When the indicator is flashing and the banner displays "Extended Network":
home airtime rates apply. National IN Calling does not apply other features
and services may not be available.
When the indicator is solid or the banner displays "Roaming": roaming rates
apply. National IN Calling does not apply and other features and services
may not be available.
I just thought some folks might find this information useful, since I have
seen a few threads dealing with it but not mentioning the new status.
