I'm looking for a good performance laptop / gaming, with an i7, at least 8 GB of RAM, at least a 4 GB graphics card, Gigabit Ethernet and AC WiFi. Some applications id like to use without slowdowns / lag: Photoshop and video editing software. And for gaming, possibly GTA V. As for price, around $600-$1400. Is this possible with this price range or should i just get a desktop / custom built. I'd like a laptop with similar specs to this: http://

If portability is not an issue, meaning you do not plan to carry the laptop around with you, then a desktop is better. Especially since it can be easily upgraded. Once you no longer think the GPU in the laptop is good enough, then you basically need to buy a brand new laptop. The exception are a small number of laptops with MXM format GPUs that allows you to upgrade the GPU in the laptop. These laptops typically start at $1,400 and you must do your research before buying one, otherwise you may find out that the GPU is actually soldered into the motherboard like any other typical laptop.

Any laptop with 4GB graphics would be a desktop replacement or gaming machine, so price range will be near your upper range or more.

You already have a full desktop build mapped out so you may just want to go with that. That system would be capable of overclocking and much better results so if you're OK with a desktop, go with that as you get the most performance for your money.

Thanks for the replies, i'd like to have a powerful computer to handle anything i throw at it with portability. Right now i have a laptop with a AMD E-2 3800 (4GB RAM, 1GB usable) and the CPU goes to 99% when i try to load a 1440p or 1080 60fps YouTube video - also when i have say 7 or 8 taps open on google chrome. I guess ill just build a desktop similar to the one i linked on pc part picker and find a laptop on craigslist or eBay with a decent i5 or something
