Need a good speaker system for PS4

I have a small room and I don't intent to use high volumes on my speaker system. What matters to me is best quality sound. I prefer using HDMI input but optical input also will be fine. 5.1 surround system would be good. Since, there are so many options, I really want someone to guide me for this.

for 5.1 generally you have two choices:
htib sets (home theater in a box)
complete home theater ( separate receiver, speakers, subwoofer... or sometimes sub+speakers are kit and avr is separate)

htib tend to be cheaper (tend, but not always) but you need to be careful that they accept 5.1 input via hdmi or optical. many cheaper models lack 5.1 input even if they support hdmi arc or optical so you need to check. many cheaper models only allow 5.1 from the integrated dvd player. another negative is that the speakers are sometimes 4ohm impedance which makes getting a replacement amp later on more difficult. the benefits are that they are generally cheaper, everything is included in one box and sometimes have smaller speakers.

complete setups are often bought as either a speaker kit with sub and you purchasing a receiver to go with it (energy take 5.1 classic set is an example of a great budget set) or as separate speakers paired up (the pioneer andrew jones speakers are a good example of this.. like the bs22 bookshelves. those are available in a kit format too). benefits include more speaker choices, ability to upgrade speakers or receiver later on, tons of connectivity for other sources, more features, etc. downside is that the box is larger and price is generally more costly as well.

as a rule i generally advise using true avr systems instead of htib's but i know many people do not want to go that route so i make sure to tell them the things to look out for with htibs. yes there are many which do accept 5.1 input and will work fine but you need to check to make sure they will work before purchase as it can be hard to find information in the manuals at times specifying if they do or dont.
