hey guys i'm trying to find a good powered bookshelf speaker system for my desktop PC and hopefully to get some advice. Firstly I live in Canada so the system has to be available in (or at leasts ships to) Canada. Secondly the space is med size office with carpet and drywall walls so will need a system that will sound clean and clear in these conditions. Other than that im pretty open to ideas, the only other considerations would be - less than $450CAN, good DAC included. not overly large in form factor, aesthetically pleasing and good sound quality. I note firm on powered system i would consider a passive speaker system with a mini form factor amp (w/ DAC builtin) if a good alternative is available.

I would appreciate any advice and help with find the perfect setup for my needs.thanks guys

I don't think you will find self powered speakers with a good DAC built in.
You could use one of these

as your DAC with any powered speakers. You could consider AudioEngine, Kanto, or PSB powered speakers and stay within your budget.
Using a DAC/amp and passive speakers would be tough within that price range.
