Need help headset wire repair

Hello,

I own a Plantronics RIG headset http/www.amazon.com/Plantronics-Stereo-Gaming-Headset-Mixer/dp/B00EUY5AEI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1389482540&sr=8-1&keywords=plantronics+rig

Recently I broke one of the 3.5mm jacks that connects to my pc. I cut the jack off the wire to access the cables inside the wire. There is a blue cable and a brownish-gold cable. I was expecting the usual red, gold and blue cables. If anyone knows what I would need to attach to these cables I would be extremely grateful.

twist the same color cables together and tape with electrical tape, then tape the two electrical taped outsides together

Thank you xa376. Your solution would have actually worked but I found a different work around. The mixer has a 2.5mm input and I simply used a 2.5 to 3.5mm converter to connect one of my devices and I used the working 3.5mm jack for the other
