Need help on how to make my computer faster for processing photos in Lightroom and Photoshop

Not sure if this is in the right forum but just wanted to know ways of optimising my computer for photo editing in Lightroom as it's lagging a lot and slowing down my workflow, thanks. Preferably options whichc don't involve upgrading hardware completely.

Lightroom and PS are RAM hungry.

I changed from an i5-3570k and 16GB DDR3 1600 RAM to an i7-4790k and 32GB DDR3 1600 RAM.
Importing RAW pics into Lightroom saw a solid 25% time reduction.

Part of it was the CPU, part of it was the RAM.
