Need help picking speakers?

Ok, i have 5.1 surround sound set-up in my room, the specifics are Logitech Z906. My monitor produces no sound so these will have to do. However, when i play my playstation 4 i cant get any sound, unless i re-plug everything so one wire goes from my control to my speaker, of course you can see the problem already, and if not my problem simply is "i need a speaker with Optical cable support" My mum says a simple A/V receiver would help, my dad insists i buy a new surround sound and put my current one downstairs. i have a limit of £200 to spend on either new speakers, so my question is what can i do to sort this out? would an A/V receiver sort it out? ive looked and seen that A/V recievers had stripped wires, whereas my speakers are plugged in, so what are my options?

Didn't realize your audio system is like the Z5500, earlier from work. Anyway, what else are you connecting the z906 beside the PS4?
