Hey there, can anyone help me. Ive got a pioneer amp & reciever, (model sx-339) and need to know the best way to connect my wharfdale powered sub so that the volume is controled by the amp. Am I right in thinking the 3.5mm "control" out on the rear of the unit would do this? Obviously to connect the sub I'll use a 3.5mm to rca converter. Is this the best way to go about this? And if so what shall I run into the 3.5mm "control" input? Please can someone help?

You will need a speaker to line level converter like this one

connect it to the speaker B terminals and set the receiver to use both A+B speakers. If you don't want the sub on all the time you can just select speaker A.
If the sub doesn't have stereo inputs then you can use one of these

or just connect one of the two RCA outputs of the converter. Most bass will be mono anyway.
Even without looking at the manual, I wager this 3.5mm "control" is NOT A VOLUME control, I wager it's a 12v trigger jack, please consult the manual.

Your powered sub should be connected to a SUB OUT jack on the receiver, and the receiver master control will control volume to all speakers including the sub, AND also should have individual TRIMMERS so sub level can be adjusted independently.

Is all in the manual dude, they bothered to write one, so please consult it.
