Need help with my Yamaha YAS 108 sound bar. Will only put out 720P

Hi All I need help with my sound bar. I have a Yamaha Yas 108, I connect amazon fire tv cube to it by HDMI in, then connect to my tv from HDMI out, I'm only getting 720P video output. The Yamaha YAS 108 says that the HMDi passthorugh is up to 4K. if I just hook my amazon fire tv cube to my tv I get 1080P, am I missing something?

That's not exactly pass through. Pass though would be like cable box showing 4k, to sound bar, to tv


I'm guessing the fire stick defaults to 720 p when hooked up and since your soundbar has no monitor it can't natively go up. Can you hook Firestick to tv then optical audio to soundbar? Or HDMI out to soundbar, or Bluetooth?

Is the content you are viewing in FHD or UHD?
Did you try changing the video resolution in the Firestick settings.

Its not fire stick, its fire tv cube. Not passthrough? what would the difference be If I had cable box hooked to sound bar or the fire cube both output devices? I did hook cable box to it set at 1080 that also showed 720P on the tv. When I had it hooked up to my surround sound receiver it passed through in 1080P. The fire cube will output 720, 1080 up to 4K, passthrough is passthrough right? No HDMI out on my tv. I'm hooked up fire cube out to sound bar in, then sound bar out to tv, all HDMI.. Is any one using Yamaha YAS 108 and run into this problem? The content I'm watching id 1080P.

Also passthrough would be fire cube passing 1080 through sound bar to tv.
