Need overclocking advice and getting low fps.

Hi,
Two questions
I have an MSI laptop and i've noticed that i'm getting low fps on games like Arma and squad. I want to overclock to see if i can run games any better. But i'm pretty unexperienced when it comes to this type of thing so i want to know what the safest way to overclock is and how much and when i should be overclocking.

The second question is regarding my FPS in some other games. Primarily CS:GO. With my specs i think i'm supposed to be running CSGO perfectly on ultra settings. And even though i do get over 60 fps consistently it feels like it isn't running smoothly for some reason.

my specs:
Intelcore I7 7700HQ 2.8Ghz
16GB ram
DX12
NVidia Geforce 1060.

Is your laptop plugged in when you're playing games? Also make sure that you're using the actual graphics card and not your CPU graphics while playing the game.

My laptop is always plugged in. How can i check that i'm using the graphics card instead of my CPU graphics? Sorry im kinda noobish
