Need some recommendations for laptops

Hello! I'm really struggling to find the right laptop. I recently bought a HP Omen which had: Intel I5 7th gen GTX 1050 2GB 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD However 18 days after buying it the GPU pretty much stopping working. I tested it and the 1050 would not run any games even on low settings, In the end it might of been a faulty GPU...
But now I'm looking for something else. All suggestions would be fantastic
I would like a dedicated gpu to play some games (fps+rts) on medium settings. I would like anything over an i5 cpu and 8 GB of ram. I would prefer (but not needed) the laptop to be something I can upgrade my self by adding in an additional SSD/HDD/RAM.
