Need suggestion for upgrading ram

Hi Guys

I have own Acer Aspire 5740G (434G50MN) laptop and I want to upgrade his ram from 4GB to 16GB. I have seen the laptop book where its mentioned that you can only upgrade to 8GB. My question is it possible to upgrade till 16GB. If I upgrade will my laptop detect and use whole 16GB.

Thank you for your reply. Os is Win 7 home premium 64 bit and due to some game requirement I want to upgrade the ram.

you most likely wont get performance increase in games buy upgrading ram. ram just holds short term information that your cpu uses to think. more short term memory doesn't increase processing power. I wouldnt even bother. but if you do just get 8. anything more would just be a waste.

I dont understand what you are saying. that computer could never play COD.

what I am saying is whenever I tried to play COD it shows msg that you don't have the sufficient ram to play the game. I just want to know is it possible to upgrade the ram

yes it is. but that alone wont allow you to play CoD

No that laptop had a max of 8 gb of ram. You can't go above the physical max on any system.
