My Hugh's E86 only after 2 years has gone south as far as directv goes. I get
hd from my ota and of course the reciever is good for that..but my readings of
the transponder have been around 35 to 43 and the result is that TCM movies are
now unbearable and sometimes don't even show up. CNN is completely blank now.
Those were just 2 of my favorite chnls. Directv wants to send me a replacement
for $149 and one year commitment. Also the replacement is a 30 day guarantee
refurbished unit. Aren't they generous? I could get one new for at least $200
and get one year guarantee. Any suggestions? BTW, the E86 is still good enough
to give me most of my channels, so far except for those 2 I mentioned. Any
ideas of having 2 recievers?

I suspect the receiver is fine.

Odds are your LNB is flaky.

The E86 and clones are renowned for early failure in the described manner
due to heat over time. My money's on the on it as the culprit.
