Needing the right camera

Not entirely sure where to ask this question, so I figured I'd put it here since I'm looking for a camera, just not the digital type that people use for pictures.

I'm needing some recommendations on the best type of HD quality type cameras that can be used for cars. Not exactly dash cams, but they would work if they have live streaming capability.

I have lost the ability to turn my head the slightest bit due to a fused neck. I can't look left and right to see oncoming traffic at stop signs. I've found some nice 7" HD monitors that can hooked up in the car. I was looking for some great quality car cameras that can be hooked up into the HD input on this monitor.

I've tried the standard flush mount cameras and backup cameras, but those are mostly RCA quality type and let's just say they're not the best quality. I found the JooVoo X dash cam that's supposedly has the HD Live Stream capability and a friend recommended using 2 GoPros(1 looking left and 1 looking right), but I was wondering if there was anything else out there someone can recommend?

You're looking for cameras and monitors to actually help you drive and see what you can't see?
Is this actually legal?

I heard NHTSA is in the process of possibly approving rear view cameras in place of a rear view mirror, but not something looking out the front or sides.

It is legal. When my condition first started forming, no doctors could tell me what was happening or why. Most AS patients go 7+ years without a diagnosis and by then it's too late. I went 15 years. A wonderful lady from Easter Seals who is a registered Vocational Rehab Driving Specialist who teaches disabled people how to drive again helped me get my license back.

So yes, I can drive. They were trying to have me use those mirrors like a school bus or 18 wheeler uses. They have mounts that go under the hood, but those mirrors distort the oncoming traffic. Even the DMV knows. Trust me, I went by the book and everything. I've held off on driving by myself since getting my license back because I want to make sure others are safe more than myself.

That's why I'm looking for better cameras. I have blind spot detection system. I have rearview backup camera. I have a 18" rear view monitor. I've invested over $2000 already in equipment and installation costs to get my car setup.

If you look up on YouTube for BMW Side View Cameras, it's kinda like the system I need. Those cameras are RCA though and the quality on those cameras aren't that great as YouTube make them out to be.

So that is why I am looking for HD quality cameras. I was trying to search for HD webcams that have the HDMI output or something.

But anyway, yes I can drive. That's why I want to get some recommendations from people who know a lot more about these products.

Btw, this not to help me look out front. I can see in front just fine. These cameras would only be used to see oncoming from the left and right when I'm at a stop sign. That's it. It's just like those BMW Side View Cameras for assistance pulling out of a parking spot, stop signs, etc...

They have blind spot detection kits you can use now. They even have special new side mirrors you can custom install into your vehicle that has a built-in camera with a small monitor on the inside of your car attached to it that is a new blind spot camera system you can buy for interstate purposes. They activate only when turning on your blinker left or right so you can change lanes.

The world is changing and technology is taking over.

But you don't have to worry about someone like me. I've held off on driving by myself because I don't feel safe on the road and more importantly, I don't feel others are safe. So that's why I'm looking for much better cameras that would only help me at stop signs and pulling out of a parking spot in a lot like on that BMW youtube video.

It's not you I'm worried about. It's all those other jokers that can't drive now. And it will only get worse.

Yes, the tech is coming. But we're in a weird fuzzy place between zero assist and fully self driving.
The Transportation Secretary was on the radio just the other day, wondering how we teach people to drive, and take over when the self drive car fails.

Yeah, I totally get where you're coming from. I don't much care for these new smart drive cars that has no driver driving them.

call me luddite, but I won't want a self-driving car until I'm unsafe to my fellow drivers.

I get mild motion sickness if i'm not driving. reading or watching a video makes it worse. I don't have this problem in large vehicles though (trains, subways, planes)

I think the previously mentioned GoPros would do the trick. The issue of having displays near the windshield is that they will take space and could obstruct your view to some extent. You also need all of this to be secure in the event of a sudden stop or accident.

I would be a shame to see something coming and then get knocked out by a flying display.
