What are these and how do I remove them from the board? Tab slides back a little bit but doesnt free the ribbon? Doesnt flip up either

The white thing should continue to slide out.

You may need to lift it up after sliding out, there are several versions of that connector. Do it very gently though as they snap easily. If it does not lift up easily don't force it.
