I have a Dell Inspiron 8200. I haven't used it in a long time and both of the batteries for it are dead and show no life left. I bought a new battery on eBay. When inserted the LED battery charging status LED is flashing red and green alternately. The manual says that means the battery is overheated and needs to be cooled down. The battery is stone cold and the laptop is not overheating.
Where does the laptop get its temp info to make that determination? I suppose I could have gotten a new defective battery but I'd like to confirm that if I can before sending it back.
