New Computer Trouble

I recently bought an MSI GE60 2PC Apache. I must have some kind of setting incorrect, because it can't run Minecraft at more than 15 FPS. It has Core i7 4700HQ, Nvidia GeForce GTX 850M, and 8 gigs of RAM. Is there a setting or something I need to change? Please help.

Turns out the monitor was messing it up somehow.... So far if I don't play on the monitor it is fine.
