I've been given the task of choosing a laptop for my dad, I have a decent knowledge of parts and such but struggle with what's worth the money and what's not

He uses his current laptop mainly for Internet browsing and other basic programmes, he's fed up with slow loading times and slow boot up so something that does that easily would be great

Also personally I'm not a huge fan of windows 8 so is it worth getting 7 or waiting for 10?

No ebay please

Any laptop can be made to have quick loading times and boot up times, just install a SSD and make sure it has 8 gb of ram or more.

If you don't like windows 8 interface you can install many programs/themes to make it look like windows 7 with the traditional start menu.

Your criteria are a bit too wide to post any link, this could be any laptop ranging from $500 to $1500. Do you have a set budget?
