New gaming laptop not performing well

So I recently got a new gaming laptop (Dell Inspiron 15 7000) and I chose this PC because I felt like it would be able to run most intense games (BF1, Just Cause 3, Rust, etc). I came to this after watching many video reviews of this pc and ones with similar specs but yet I get really bad frames on games like Rust, Just Cause 3, and even Beamng drive; usually to the point where the game is not playable.
Specs:
8GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM
7th gen intel i5 7300HQ Quad Core (6MB cache, up to 3.5GHz but in task manager caps out at 2.5Ghz)
GTX 1050 4GB GDDR5

Essentially my question is: is the laptop I bought not made for intense games like BF, JC, and Rust? And if not, would it be worth upgrading to one of these for better performance or possibly upgrade this one with more RAM and an SSD?

Thank you so much!

That's odd you're getting bad frame rates, I've played those games on my MX150 graphics card (way less powerful than 1050) granted not on high settings but I get playable frame-rates on my little ultrabook. Your system should be able to play those games.

Have you checked temps while gaming? Could be thermal throttling.
What are you CPU/GPU/RAM load % during gaming?
Are all your drivers up to date (Windows/nVidia)?

It's a 1050ti GPU which is an entry level GPU for midrange gaming. It works fine if you dial back the details a bit on 1080p. gaming.

What kind of performance issues are we talking about here? can you quantify this?

try reinstalling windows all together. trust me it helps. by doing that, it gets rid of any bloatware and other crap that slows down your computer.

It sounds like OP is getting unplayable rates, while the 1050ti should be capable of BF1 @ Ultra (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kM9ANq49ZRU)

Especially if I can get playable rates on my MX150 with scaled back graphics.

I have and my temps dont go very high usually but ill run a game for awhile to make sure plus i have a cooler pad below my pc to help. But for some reason my CPU load % is almost always at 100% even when im browsing google or just on steam looking at games while my RAM usually stays about 30-50% when not playing games and my gpu has full utilization during games as well.

However when I look into my system information it does say that i have 8GB RAM total, 7.97 usable, but only around 3-5 available could that be part of it?

And yes all my drivers should be up to date, i just installed a few updates when i got this PC not too long ago.

It's not a 1050ti just a 1050. And for example on Rust and Just Cause 3 even on the lowest settings for everything from gibs to textures i get just about 10-15 frames and its very choppy.
