I suspect that the FCC requires that sort of disclosure, whereas equipment
pricing is another matter. Listing the channels and cities may help to
reduce churn (gosh, if I wait long enough, DTV will have HD coverage of my
locals--sorry, Comcast).

Calling me Chicken Little is what if not an insult.

I made no guess, and refuse to, I just called you on your guess of free
upgrades.

I didn't call you Chicken Little. I suggested you might want to consider
that for a 'screen name' based upon the attitude you reflect here.

Then you're guessing there won't be free upgrades. You can't have it
both ways.

The SEC has even more stringent rules than the FCC, thank you. And
promises of free or reduced price upgrades wouldn't reduce churn????

Jack, then just what is your point here? That front-line reps are
clueless? Granted. That no one knows exactly how DTV is going to
handle the switchover? Granted. There's really nothing else to argue
about, everything else is just speculation.

DTV will hand out as little information as they can get away with. The
only thing they will release is glowing reports of how great everything
will be once they switch. Nothing concrete so they can keep everybody
holding their breaths. If they don't tell us what they're going to do,
we can't start complaining about it ahead of time (well, most of us,
anyway).

You sure seem to be consumed with this issue in your waking moments.
You say you have "zero idea" what will happen, yet you also seem to have a
compulsion to argue on and on about the subject with anyone who offers his
own guess on what may happen.

You made it quite clear, over and over and over again what you believe WONT
happen, so why not give the subject a rest for a while and lower your blood
pressure a little?

Everyone else's guess is just as good as yours. Stop asking for URL's - as
you have not provided any to back up your quite obvious notion that DTV is
going to stick it to us (reference your plentiful previous posts for your
transparent feelings on the subject). People are free to speculate without
the need to provide URL's.

Why in the world should they give you that in writing, even if it is the

Actually, that's true here, too, if you want the details.

Of the 7 that show some HDTV, 3 have a full-time setup with one HD sub-channel
and one SD sub-channel. PBS varies (HD only at night, and 4 SD channels
during the day), while WB, Fox, and UPN are full-time with a single HD
channel.

Need I point out that people are complaining about the new DirecTV DVR
that hasn't yet been released? The Owner's Guide was put on a web site
and the complaints started.

I don't care what DirecTV does with High Definition. I don't own a High Definition
TV display and have no plans to purchase one.

If DirecTV wants my business, they will find a way to update my receivers
and dishes when required at minimal cost to me.

You're the one with fault logic. If not "A" doesn't mean not "B".

Sorry you didn't take logic in college.

ALl I say is we don't know, and DirecTv won't say despite SEC guidelines
that might require it.

Choose your battles wisely, Jack. And learn to follow attributes.

My comment was in response to Steve's post, not yours. Or are you

But the differen frequency band will be downconverted to the same IF that

Considering they are ground up new technology, they will have an MSRP of at
least $500 to begin with. That is before any subsdies and rebates DirecTV
carves from the MSRP.

Now that I have my FREE HR10-250, I look forward to the day of my free

Guidelines and requirements are not equivalent.

Can you cite the SEC guidelines that address the issue?
