iPhone tried to go with verizon but verizon didn't want to surrender their VCast and GetitNow service to the likes of itunes, thus since verizon would loose their "exclusivity" of VCast and charging $2.99 for a ringtone, they wouldn't want apple on their network. I'm actually shocked Verizon allowed Android.

wow really? can't call and surf the net at the same time? isn't that why we ditched dial up?? COME ON! GOD the telocs are USELESS!! every little thing is just sooo hard and promoted as being soo awesome. can not wait for google's data only plan.

LOL, my IPHONE 3G so slow. "My AT&T Service Suk". Dump this piece crap & crap service within next 5 months.

***** Can Your Phone & Network Do that?
Answer is:>
No, My IPHONE 3G SUK & Other network can do that.

I think AT&T get the hate because it has the iPhone, the hate comes from people who hate apple, and people who don't want to leave their provider to get the iPhone.

My family an I have been with At&t mobile for more that 12 years and we have never had a problem, most people i know either have at&t or sprint so I cant say anything for tmobile or verizon, but reception and coverage has always been better than friends and extended family who have sprint, especially in the sticks. My brothers may have iPhones but I could care less, my motorola Q9 global does fine.

Careful people, let's not tick off Club Cupertino. Otherwise we'll be bombarded with "I'm an iPhone, and I'm a Droid" commercials.

@Verizon. Come to Canada!!

[citation][nom]socalboomer[/nom]strangely, even with (or especially with) the largest number of responses, AT&T rates lowest in its reception in Portland OR:Hmmm. . . anecdotes don't a good sample make.[/citation]
Obviously the report you quote was a biased one. There are far worst service providers than AT&T, Boost Mobile and Nextel being the worst (because iDen is the worst technology ever invented) followed by Sprint (CDMA) and T-Mobile. With a dual mode CDMA and iDen phone, if you're in an area with both CDMA and iDen towers then in many cases you have to choose between your walkie talkie and being able to make phone calls. Compared to this how is AT&T the worst service provider on the planet?

Those new commercials aren't going to do anything for sales. ATT service stinks so bad that no commercial is going to help. The Iphone sells itself, not commercials. Apple should stop waisting there money on comercials and spend it on bringing better products to the market...........

interesting, the caller timer at the top of the phone moves from 5 to 10 to 30 to 55... 'The sequence has been shorterned' :)

I thought it was hilarious that when the Iphone commercial came on and said that you could surf the web while on a phone call then asked if your service can do that? My answer was, yes, I have done that with my storm.

my first smartphone back in 2003 could do that too... I'm pretty sure that phone on any network could do it too.

The ability to talk and surf the web simultaneously in the USA is limited to 3G HSPA and EV-DO Rev. A phones. 2G only phones that use CDMA, TDMA and GSM/GPRS can't have simultaneous voice and data.

All you people who say you dont care about talking and surfing dont realize that when your using the internet or streaming Pandora, you wont miss an incoming phone call on Att. I heard on Verizon it just goes to vmail, if your using data while someone calls you.

Also tethering my iPhone to my notebook and still be able to talk on my phone is badass on another level, but you'll need to jailbreak for that.
