New laptop

i am starting an apentiship with microsoft next year as a firewall teqnition. they have offerd to buy me a lap top but to be honest its rather poo.

they have said that they will put £300 towords a top and i can pay the rest if i wish too any advice on which root would be the best
#i will be putting around £200 of my own money into it

If you will using the laptop for work, you probably want something easy to carry around to plug into different things.

Not sure what your local pricing is, but I like the Lenovo products, even the lower end Idea Pads. I own several ThinkPads and work on the all the time, very solid. Just bought an IdeaPad S12 for my daughter, also very nice.
