New Phone

Currently I am still using the Audiovox 9500, since Mid-June when ohio
had large amounts of rain or the last PRL update. I am not sure
which, but I have been getting poor signal strength. Verizon says I
can either get a replacement phone or I am eligible for the new every
two. I think all it is a PRL issue, since I've never had a problem
with the phone in a year and a half.

I am also looking at new phones and the only real requirement is
1x, and Tri-Mode.
SCH-A650
LG VX3200
Audiovox 8900

These are digital only, a little unsure of them.
SCH-A670
LG VX6000
LG VX7000

Any comments on which ones would be as reliable as the 9500 or how to
resolve my 9500 issues?

My wife has had a Audiovox 9500 for a year and a half and it has worked fine
for her. I've had an LG VX6000 for 5 months and both my wife and I thought
it sure makes her 9500 look old. Not a big deal, but I do like the looks and
menu system of the 6000 better. And it has worked good for me. One more
significant difference is that the 9500 has about the worst battery life of
any phone I've ever seen and the 6000's is much better.

In my cell phone use for the past 7 years I have never had the need to use
analog. So I didn't have any issue with the 6000's lack of analog. And I'm
probably wrong about this (from my former Sprint PCS days), but isn't most
analog outside of Verizon's (Bell Atlantic's) native Northeast region
roaming anyway (don't know if GTE Wireless had any analog areas). If that's
true, I wouldn't use analog anyway since roaming costs so much. I know a lot
of people online here must live/travel in analog-only areas so that all
depends on your situation. Do you ever use analog now on your 9500? If not,
it shouldn't be a priority for you.

The 6000 has been around a while so I would think would be discontinued very
soon (but who knows, with Verizon's poor phone line-up) since the 7000 is
now out (I think).

I'd agree about the battery without question.

I do actually, some places in Ohio will only pick up a signal in analog.
The majority of the time I don't have to worry, but on occasion I do.
Trips to Columbus usually end up in Analag, State Parks and Hilly areas
around wooster, Oh and don't forget the dead center of PA. All are
analog, but not roaming.

Not out yet and I've never really liked Motorola. Even before the T700
series first came out almost two years ago.

I was in Columbus OH Friday and Saturday. I had no analog signal problems,
stayed digital the whole time, in numerous building and local parks.

The only time I went into analog is on US Hwy 50 in Southern Indiana, and
that's the same place I dropped a call.The only other problems was some
echoing and garbling. but I would rate the signal a 96 on a 100 scale.

The area I usually have problems is between zanesville (Spelling)
and Columbus on I think its 75?
