I intalled a new jack that I know works and still no power with an adapter that I know works. What now? I dont care about the laptop I just want my files. Any other way to get power to the computer? Any way to charge the battery without the laptop? Any way to hook up the hard drive to another computer?

Solution
Well it depends on what kind of computer you are trying to connect it to. What options the computer gives. You may well need to get a cable for connecting, depending on the computer. Some have extra connections built in. I love that about older desktops. You can often just open them up and look extra connections. 😉
You can probably pull the hard drive and hook it up to another computer. I have done that a few times. However, before going that far, have you tried plugging it in with the charger cord with the battery out to see if it will start?

If the cord is damaged at all (which you may not see) then it will not send enough power to the device to charge the battery and run it. Making it not turn on when the battery is in.

Also, is the charger cord OEM or after market? If it is after market it may cause the exact same problem, not getting the right amount of power.

the adapter 100% works I know for sure. I tried it without the battery. It is not an adapter problem....and I am 99% sure it is not a jack problem. I can easily pull the hard drive but I don't know how to hook it to another computer to access the files.
