New sd card problem

[Halp pls]

I just bought a new sd card with much more memory after seeing the no storage space on my phone for an eternity. I bought a 132 gb. I didn't format it before use, I just put it straight into my phone (while shut off) and when I turned it back on, no change. That "no storage space available" message is still there. Even after I tried to format through my phone. Is my phone damaged? The card is new so I doubt that's damaged, also it was a lot of money and I'm not trying to waste anymore, also not trying to waste any more time on a task that should've been simple.

Is your phone compatible with an SD card that large? I don't know about phones, but my tablets have limits.

What phone do you have?

P.S. I've never heard of a 132GB SD card. 128GB, maybe?

Does the storage space prompt have anything to do with your SD card?
Android phones have internal storage and (most at least) have SD card.
The OS and apps are on the internal storage, so if your internal storage is out of space then it does not matter if you have an 8gb SD card or 128gb SD card, your internal storage drive is still full.
