Hi! I recently upgraded my older Panasonic plasma tv (about 8 years old) with a shiny new LG UH-7700. I used to receive about 15 channels with my OTA HD antenna, but on the new TV, I get zilch. During manual tuning, I see it finding an occasional signal, but nothing with show. Was it just that my old tv had a better ability to process signals or is there something else I am missing?

Thanks!

Hello there.

You should have kept the Plasma...xD

No really, have you done a full automatic channel search, in Antenna mode, and you got nothing? If you followed the procedure for getting ATSC channels correctly, then you should have something. It's really rare for tuners to be defective, but it's always possible.

Check your wiring carefully, and redo the automatic tuning. If you still have nothing, then the tuner may be defective. If you're pretty sure your OTA tuner is broken, you can always get a good quality external one. They usually have more features than what the TV offers, such as guides, DVR capability, etc.

Also, newer TVs have even smaller and cheaper OTA tuners, so reception isn't going to get better.
