I hooked up my Sony DVD player, Directv and a Yamaha receiver to myitsubishi TV. The DVD player and Directv went into the receiver using HDMI cables. Then HDMI cable to the output on the receiver to the input on the TV. Everything works except there is no sound on the DVD player. I changed it to DVD on the Receiver. Any ideas?

If you attach the DVD player directly to the TV, does it produce sound then?

Then that suggests an issue with the DVD player itself. Did you also have the audio output on the TV set to internal speakers when you tried the DVD player?

My pleasure. Before getting a new one, I would verify that the DVD player is indeed defective, as previously suggested.

Connected to the receiver or to the TV (with output to internal speakers)?

I tried both. No sound through the receiver but it does work with the internal speakers. How can I change that?

That means that the DVD player is producing sound.

What is the model of your receiver?

Audio signals input at the HDMI jack are not output from any speaker terminals but output from the connected video
monitor.
To enjoy the sound from speakers connected to this unit,
– make an analog or digital connection besides the HDMI connection (see page 16).
– mute the volume of the connected video monitor.
