No audio via HDMI in windows 10

i am not getting audio via HDMI port from my desktop but from laptop its working.
i tried updating drivers of motherboard change settings but nothing is working can any expert help me.

i know it is a silly question but you dont have speakers or a headset plugged into your desktop do you?

i am presuming your monitor has speaker in which you are trying to use. when it is plugged in right click on the audio control in the toolbar. and click on playback devices. Does your monitor appear here?

You have to let Windows know where you want it to output sound to:

Hit the windows key on your keyboard, and type "control". Hit Enter. The old control panel should be open now. Select "Hardware and sound", then "Sound". A list of sound devices should now be open, among which you should see the HDMI output. Right click on it and select "Make default". That should be it, hope it helps
