No batttery is detected

my sony vaio laptop running windows vista says no battery is detected what can the problem be ?

Is the battery genuine, or a replacement from a third party vendor?

Check your battery connections and check you have seated the battery correcty. Were did you buy it from? I would STRONGLY advise to avoid cheap chinese batteries as they are rubbish, cheap but last about 2 mins!
