No bootable divce

My acer laptop says no bootable diviice found down have a back up disk.
The one l do have doesn't help.what do I do to fix this problem

When I start my laptop it turns on and then tells me no bootable device found. Restart your laptop

can you access the BIOS?
does the BIOS see the drive?
