No Dts or Dolby Surround

I connected tv to home theater via optical cable , laptop to tv via hdmi.

All speakers works , but the problem is that I don't get Dolby or Dts surround sound , I don't know wt's the problem. Any Ideas?

Do you get Dolby from the TV for off the air sources or cable? Do you know that whatever you are playing on the laptop has Dolby or Dts?

I'm sure it's Dts. When I play it directly from the TV by a hard disk , I get a sing on the Home theater says DTS. but when I play the same thing on my laptop I don't get it .

You will have to investigate the software player you are using on the laptop. It may not be able to handle Dts. There could also be a setting in the player to select which audio stream to output.

I use Vlc player and I'am pretty sure that it can play Dts , even thou I used Kmplayer , Classic and more , they all have the same problem. And about the settings on Vlc I set it on 5.1 Ch , Nothing changes.
