no sound from cinemate 1510 soundbar

I have connected my cinemate 1510 to lg tv via optical cable. I have selected external optical output from my tv but am getting no sound from the soundbar.

You may have to turn the TV speakers off and/or change the output type in the TV menu.
You also need to select the optical input on the soundbar.
