No Sound on Lenovo Thinkpad W510

Hi all, I just bought a refurb Lenovo W510 that came with Windows 10. After doing the initial setup I realized I was getting no sound or very brief instances of sound. After some research I think it is a driver issue maybe. I have tried the solutions of updating Lenovo drivers and also replacing the conexant audio driver with the Win10 built in HD audio driver to no avail so I'm turning to the experts on Tom's, I hope someone here may be able to help me.

I reset windows and let it update everything and I get sound intermittently now. 5 seconds as I start a cd, in and out sound as I am adjusting the volume then nothing. Audio jack works fine. Maybe it's hardware?

Yeah I suppose it could be but opening up to check would void the warranty so I'll probably just return it if no other suggestions come up. Thanks
