Question No stereo sound

I have connected phone from headphone jack to stereo amp with relevant cable but not getting stereo sound. Only plays through left speaker. Checked all connections. Any advice?

I dont have any other device to check the cable on. It is new and the one recommended for its purpose. I only need to know whether the sound should be stereo and emitting from both speakers or if it is usual for the sound to come from only one speaker - if it usual to be stereo sound then I will need to return the cable supplied and seek an alternative. Thank you for your help

Do you have a set of wired ear buds or wired headset? If so, do you get both left and right channels?
