Question Noticing I use my laptop less since ChatGPT… anyone else?

Hey folks,

This might sound weird, but I’ve realized lately I barely open my laptop unless I really have to. Ever since I started using ChatGPT (on my phone mostly), a lot of the stuff I used to boot up my laptop for — emails, quick docs, brainstorming, even some coding help — I now just handle on the go.

Don’t get me wrong, I still need my laptop for heavier tasks (editing videos, serious multitasking), but for everyday stuff? AI tools are kind of replacing a bunch of apps and workflows I used to rely on.

Is anyone else here feeling the same shift? Are you using your laptops less because of AI tools, or is it just me overthinking this?

Would love to hear how others are balancing their laptop use with mobile + AI tools these days.

Why is it that everyone here seems to avoid AI like it's some kind of disease? Some even treat it like a threat to humanity. Meanwhile, I still have to use it daily for work—and not just use it, but actually spend time figuring out which AI tools are good enough to rely on :mask:

Its not that we (me, anyway) avoid it.
Rather, we see how inaccurate it is, and how it is misused, and don't rely on it.

I've been using the Pro version of ChatGPT, and I’ve gotta admit—it does come across as pretty wise. (Though the subscription fee definitely makes sure I feel the wisdom in my wallet too.)

But sometimes I wonder... is the AI quietly watching my every move? Like I’m unknowingly training a very curious child—feeding it thoughts, habits, preferences. And one day, that “child” might just grow up and do something big with all of it. Hopefully not Skynet big. :fearscream:

It’s just not really that useful and the things it would be useful for it’s just not reliable enough to use. People at my work use AI for researching topic for CPD training and you can tell who’s used AI and who hasn’t.

I use chatgpt from time to time, mainly to look up information because it handles that well. But for more complex tasks I usually avoid it since it can make mistakes. So I haven’t noticed much change. I use it on a laptop by the way.
