Not much more than attract dust into the camera. The CCD is separated from
the tape by two glass filters: The IR filter and the Bayer filter. That's
plenty of insulation.

My problem with tape is that the Scotch 810 and 811 tapes seem to have
intermittant splotches of oil or some other contaminant on them and when
you hit one of these patches it transfers to the IR filter surface and
takes about 10 Pec-Pad swabs to clean it off.
