I am attempting to revitalise my old Dell vostro 3700 for a friend, but I am not winning with the Graphics drivers. I have tried the official Dell drivers on both Windows 10 and 7, I have tried the nVidia 342 driver on both OSs and 310 on Windows 7 too.
The problem is that the system will just freeze after a few minutes of using the system. I have run memtest86+ and gotten a pass, and the built in diagnostics test from the BIOS, passed that too. I know it is the nVidia graphics driver, because Windows works fine on both OS in safe mode, and before the nVidia driver gets installed. I have also monitored the temps, which sit between 50 to 60 C, with SpeedFan and set the internal ran to 100% to no avail.
My question is: is there any known working configuration, or how can I fix this?
