I'm deciding in investing in a Nvidia Shield since I'm on the go and a gamer and need something to keep me busy while I'm on the go.

I've watched tons of videos on what it requires. I'm not interested in streaming my games to my Nvidia Shield at all.

I have an AMD machine just because I think they are somewhat nicer to me.

I've never owned a Nvidia Machine because they seemed overpriced but I've heard they are VERY powerful.

Please reply soon :)

No it is not required. You need a nvidia graphics card to stream games from your computer to your shield, but since you have no plans to do that, the point is moot.

You need an Nvidia graphics card to stream, your games to the shield. Streaming lets you 'play' your steam games on the shield. So in essence, yes it is mandatory, for you to have an Nvidia card in your computer. To get more info, go to www.geforce.com, to get all the requirements, to stream games to your shield.
