I thought that I would be annoyed reading the article title, but some of these teachers seem really creepy

first teacher, if what he did was all a lie, i can imagine a female student talking about it, making crap up, and than he got screwed for it. where i went to school, one of out male teachers looked like an athlete, and this was a normal teacher in his 20's now a pe or other teacher.

the female teacher, with a former student implies that they either graduated, or dropped out, and if thats the case, than who cares (laws of age and consent not taken into account)

the third one was a substatue teacher, for what i will assume is hitting on 18+ students. all a sub does is watch the class and vaugely teach it if they can. they have no real possission of power, so i see no real problem with what he did.

and as for the extra credit, i had teachers do stupid extra credit things like that all the time. nothing bad was posted about him yet.

Honestly if it is on facebook atleast there is a record of it. I view facebook as a public forum and there shouldn't be any rules about it as long as its done on your own time.

The NY teacher union I am surpised isn't noted in this article. I know that once your hired in the union you basically can do anything you want and have lawyers to support you no mater stupid you are. I personally wish I do more as a parent about this crappy teachers.

If your 17 year old daughter can make her own choices with a car then he can make her own choices with who she dates. She will have men hitting on her the rest of her life. You can't protect her all the time. I love my kids, but they have to grow up and take responsiblities at some point in their life.

Teacher should never have a relationship with their students, because it won't and will not be an equal relationship. I'm not talking about having equal rights, but the role of the teacher and the role of the students can never be equals. I think it's fine once the student has graduated, or when the teacher isn't at the same school as the student, and even then, in some societies, it's still considered taboo.

uh wrong, the best way for a professional to communicate with their employees/students is at work/class. outside of school it is no longer a classroom. hence the professional guidelines your college/university seems to have forgotten to teach. that is very unethicals and unprofessional of you. another reason why i think law should be a subject students are required to have just like reading, writing, and math. the law is constantly changing, so it should be a permanant subject.

you sir are obviously pretty young, while i agree with you to a point, you have obviously forgotten that even 40 year old women have fathers, and that some of those fathers have shotguns and even when their little girl turns 60, she will always be his little girl, and he will do what ever it takes to protect her always and forever as much as he can. i cite my cousins wedding two weeks ago, where the grooms 75 yr old grandfather smacked up some guy for making a lewd comment and grabbing his 53yr old aunts caboose in the banquet hall of a popular large bar.

Story is basically:-

1) Teacher seeing Girl
2) Girl not a student
3) Girl used to be student
4) When girl was student, Teacher was not seeing her

So exactly how much time after a student leaves the school is appropriate before a Teacher be classified as dating a member of the general public - a day, a week, a year?

Either way you look at it, seems like people want Teachers to be sexless eunachs and students are forbidden to date anyone just in case they happen to work for the Government in any capacity, because the same arguement could be "Well, he worked at the DMV, so he got to know her because she has a drivers licence".

They were both of legal age, no professional misconduct, just let them f*ck and keep your nose out of their business.

really?...did you read the article? it's not about 17 year old girls deciding to date older guys, it's about creepy men stalking underaged girls on Facebook, while holding positions of authority over classrooms full of said girls. Surely even the dimmest person can see what's going on here. No student, no matter how old, should have to worry about the rammifications of dealing with a predatory teacher. And, keep in mind, this article prints the teachers' versions of what happened. You think they are going to say, "Yeah, I used my position of unchecked authority to solicite sexual favors from my underaged students"? We had a couple of these creeps in my town. One was a creep who devoted most of his attention to fifteen year old girls, the other got caught cutting and pasting the heads of the cheerleaders onto porn stars on his office computer. A good parent would recognize the danger and protect his daughter, no matter how well she understands the 'right before left' rules of the road.
