I was going to jump in and blow a good part of my savings on an Alienware 18 with Dual SLI 880m GPUs, but then I decided to go with either of these two less costly gaming laptops:
ASUS ROG G750JZ-DS71 17.3" $2499
Windows 8.1 64-bit
Core i7 4700HQ (2.4GHz) Turbo Boost Speed Up to 3.4GHz
Smart Cache 6MB
Total Memory 24GB
Maximum Memory Supported 32GB
Hard Drive 1TB SATA 7,200 RPM
SSD Capacity 256GB
Blu-ray Reader DVDRW Combo Drive
Screen Size 17.3" Full HD 1920x1080
GPU Type NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880M
Video Memory 4GB
Killer Wireless-N 1202
Illuminated Keyboard
MSI GT70 DominatorPro-890 17.3" $1899
Windows 8.1
Core i7 4800MQ (2.7GHz) Turbo Boost Speed Up to 3.7GHz
Smart Cache 6MB
Total Memory 12 GB
HD Drive 1TB SATA 7,200 RPM
Blu-ray Burner
Screen Size 17.3" Full HD 1920x1080
GPU Type NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880M
Video Memory 8GB GDDR5
Killer Wireless N1202 a/b/g/n
Keyboard Steel Series Gaming 102 Keys Backlit Keyboard
Perhaps you can see my dilemma? The Asus costs more but has SSD and more memory. The MSI has a better CPU (I think), a Blu-ray Burner and more video memory for $600 less.
I was told that the Asus has better cooling and is better quality.
(1) Which one should I get?
(2) Or, should I go back to my original plan and get a dual SLI gaming rig? (I was told about "stuttering" and overheating so I'm a bit wary.)
(3) How good is the 880m by itself? Can the above gaming laptops play the recent games at very high to ultra settings? (Metro, Assasin's Creed 4, etc.)
Please help me my friends. I welcome all/any input/experiences/what you currently use, etc.
Thank you
